It gets complicated

Plasticity can be defined as an organism's ability to adjust a trait in response to an environmental change. How one would identify if a trait they are studying is plastic would be by designing a controlled experiment to see if the trait changes in different replicated environments. In the comic strip below I drew out an example of what plasticity is, in a simpler manner. You can see how the trait of the frog (color), changes when something in its environment changes, which in this case is the type of grass.

  1. your frog is adorable!!! I love how you slowly changed the grass to show the process of plasticity. You simply explained plasticity and it makes the topic easy to understand (as well as the froggys confusion)

  2. I like how you illustrated that as the environment slowly changed, the frog's color changed to it in order to better blend in due to it's plasticity!

  3. I love your medium of showing these topics! So fun, engaging, and accurate! Maybe add in something to show why the frog needed to be the same color as the grass, maybe to camouflage or maybe to regulate it's temperature. This could help the audience understand that the animal has evolved this way to be more fit and ultimately survive.
