The big issues
The question that caught my attention the most was "Does evolution tend to proceed slowly and steadily or in quick jumps? " For this question, the author explains that we don't have a definite answer, since both tend to happen, so what scientists are mainly trying to answer is which happens most often. We can make educated guesses and observe patterns to try and answer whether evolution occurs rapidly or slowly in certain scenarios. In slow and steady evolution we see the transition as transitional forms, while for rapid evolution we see no transitional forms, showing how rapid change was. Here in the diagram below is an example.
